OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's ice hockey team has released its 2017-18 schedule and season tickets will be on sale in the coming weeks. Oswego will host 13 home games in the upcoming campaign, with each of those contests starting at 7 p.m.
Season tickets can be purchased from July 14-Aug. 4 for those who currently own a package. Packages will cost $91 per seat unless the purchaser is member of the Blueline Club, which will reduce the rate to $78 per seat. From Aug. 9-11, all seats remaining will be used to accommodate any season-ticket holder's addition or change of seating arrangements. All of this information has been sent directly to season ticket holders and the forms should be filled out and returned to the Marano Campus Center Box Office.
Those interested in becoming a new season-ticket holder will be able to purchase packages starting on Aug. 14. For new season ticket holder interests, please call the box office at 315-312-3073 on or after Aug. 14.
Oswego will drop the puck for the first time in 2017-18 on Oct. 21 for an exhibition contest with the CCHL All-Stars on Family & Friends Weekend. The following Saturday will represent the beginning of the regular season as Elmira College visits the Marano Campus Center Arena on Teal Night. In a rare Sunday contest on Oct. 29, the Lakers will have their first road game at Hobart College, slated for a 4 p.m. faceoff.
State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play starts Friday, Nov. 3 at Cortland, the team's only contest of that weekend. Oswego will host SUNY Canton in a nonconference outing on Nov. 11 for Military Appreciation Night before hosting Buffalo State and Fredonia the following weekend, respectively. For Friday's battle with the Bengals, it will be Pride Night (Diversity Awareness) which will precede Saturday's Alumni Night when the Lakers face the Blue Devils.
To open December, Oswego will travel to Geneseo to face the Knights on Friday, Dec. 1. The Lakers return to campus the next night to welcome Brockport for the annual Teddy Bear Toss and United Way Toy Drive. Oswego will then visit the North Country on Dec. 8-9 to compete against Potsdam and Plattsburgh, respectively.
After a few week hiatus for winter break, the Lakers will participate in back-to-back tournaments. The first tournament is at Middlebury and features the host Panthers along with St. Michael's College and Neumann University. Oswego starts with Neumann at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 30 and concludes play on Sunday.
It will then be the Lakers' annual PathFinder Bank/Oswego State Hockey Classic on Jan. 5-6. Oswego and Skidmore College will play at 7 p.m. on Friday with the Lakers facing either Manhattanville College or Hobart College at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
For Employee Appreciation Night on Saturday, Jan. 13, Oswego will host Nazareth College for the penultimate nonconference matchup of the slate. The final nonconference meeting will be at Utica College at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20. Sandwiched between those two nonconference games is Youth Night on Friday, Jan. 19 when the Red Dragons of Cortland visit Oswego.
The Lakers will then go on two-straight conference weekend road trips, first at Morrisville on Jan. 26-27 and then Buffalo State and Fredonia on Feb. 2-3, respectively. Oswego then hosts Geneseo on Friday, Feb. 9 for Dorm night before going to Brockport on Saturday for the squad's final regular season road game.
For the final weekend of the regular season, Oswego hosts Postdam and Plattsburgh for its annual Whiteout Weekend. The Bears are scheduled for Friday night's contest while the Cardinals and Lakers renew their rivalry and close the regular season on Saturday.
SUNYAC Championship action is set to begin with first round contests on Wednesday, Feb. 21.
