BENNINGTON, N.Y. -- The Oswego State Lakers men's soccer team earned the Southern Vermont College Invitational championship on Sunday afternoon with a 7-1 victory over SUNY Canton. Oswego now possess a 4-0-1 record and are outscoring opponents 27-6 on the year.
Connor Lunduski was named tournament most valuable player after two assists in the opening game and a pair of goals with an assist on Sunday. Joining Lunduski on the All-Tournament Team were
Jason Siracuse,
Hassan Musa and
Karebo Wilson.
Siracuse matched Lunduski's output in the game as well, notching two of the Lakers' goals to go along with an assist. Also scoring for Oswego were
Caleb Asamoah, who's hat trick highlighted Saturday's triumph,
Logan Sperano and
Ben Slapelis.
Musa rounded out the Lakers' assists, tallying a game-high two.
Brian Terra played 78 minutes in net, stopping there saves to collect the win. For the second-straight day,
Thomas Pupatelli assumed the role of closer, holding down the goal for the final 12 minutes.
Oswego outshot Canton 17-9 on the day, including 10-4 in shots on-goal. The Lakers also took three more corners than the Kangaroos (5-2).
Men's soccer will return to the pitch at 4 p.m. on Friday when it hosts St. Lawrence University at Laker Turf Stadium.
