Dr. Jaclyn Schildkraut 12/7/2018 SUNY Oswego Criminal Justice Professor, Dr. Jaclyn Schildkraut started a Cards for Kids campaign in recent years, dedicated to collecting holiday cards to send to children who have lost loved ones in a mass shooting. Last year, Cards for Kids collected more than 2,000 cards and this year the number has exceeded 5,000.

Chuck Spector 11/2/2019 A veteran, Chuck spent time as a tank platoon leader with the 2nd armored division of the Army. He continued to serve in the reserves with the 11th Special Forces group. Chuck is also an emeritus professor of accounting, finance and law at Oswego State, having taught at the college from his appointment in 1974 until his retirement this spring. He continues to stay involved on campus, supervising accounting majors in the volunteer income tax program.

Nate Beasley 10/27/2018 Beasley is a veteran who served 10 years in the Marine Corps. Since that time, Beasley has created a local chapter of Team RWB, which strives to enrich the lives of America's veterans by connecting them to their community through physical and social activity. Along those lines, Beasley organized a Sept. 11 Remembrance Run to honor local heroes as well as those that were lost on that tragic day.

Kevin Dice 2/16/2018 For the last thirty years, Kevin Dice has volunteered his time between Pack and Troop 888 in Oswego, serving the children of our community. He has served as a Den Leader and Cubmaster while serving as Committee Chairman for the last several years. Over the last 10 years, he has served as a Corporate Member of the Oswego Town Volunteer Fire Department. Kevin is also a Free Mason, serving in several positions and trying to help several community organizations. Kevin has served the campus community since 1993, first as a janitor in Penfield Library and now in the grounds department, working his way up to SG9 in the fall of 2017.

Jim Omundsen 2/9/2018 Jim Omundsen has been a  volunteer coach with the Oswego Minor Hockey association for over the last 25 years. He has spent countless early hours every Sat. and Sunday throughout the hockey season with the programs' youngest players - the Tykes and Mites - along with helping to launch the inaugural girls program. Jim has not only taught these children how to skate, but also the fundamentals of ice hockey while having a fun, enjoyable experience.

Linda Stummer 1/19/2018 Currently a visiting assistant professor in the department of curriculum and instruction here at Oswego State, Linda was longtime employee of the Oswego City School District. She impacted many lives as she trained educators on special needs training. She continues to help train educators in her current role at the college and is always available to those in need.

Glynn English 11/11/2017 Glynn is a Vietnam veteran and a Purple Heart recipient. A SUNY Oswego alumnus, Glynn is currently the SUNY Oswego assistant dean and director of the Business Administration Student Advisement Center in the College’s School of Business.

Emily and Katie Bradshaw 10/21/2017 Katie – a current sophomore at Oswego – and her sister Emily took it upon themselves to hang banners along campus and community streets with different information about suicide prevention. Their efforts made a noticeable impact on those who were cognizant of the themed signs throughout Oswego.

Tom Galloway 2/10/2017 A lifelong resident of Oswego, Staff Sargeant Tom Galloway served in the Army's 187th Airborne Regimental Combat Team during the Korean War. Galloway was integral in the "Tree's for Vet's Program," that has produced more than 100 trees being planted along the sidewalks of Bridge Street with bronze plaques honoring veterans. The Oswego Veteran's Council named Galloway its "Veteran of the Year," which joins a myriad of other medals and citations, including The Soldier’s Medal for Heroism from General William Westmoreland and The New York State Conspicuous Service Cross from Governor George Pataki. The 60-year member of the Oswego American Legion and the VFW, Galloway graduated from SUNY Oswego with a degree in industrial arts/technology upon completing his service with the army.

Denny Snyder 1/20/2017 Denny Snyder spent 20 years behind the microphone as Oswego State hockey’s public address announcer in Romney Field House. He was also a board member for Oswego Minor Hockey for more than 15 years, serving as president from 1977-87. A member of the Blueline Club as well, Denny was instrumental in creating Oswego Minor Hockey Association’s Power Play Minor Hockey Tournament. For his contributions to hockey in the community, Denny has had the locker rooms at Fort Rink dedicated in his name, he has received the Joseph J. Scanllon Award for his commitment to youth hockey and is a member of the Blueline Club’s Hall of Fame.

Dick Johnson 11/05/2016 Dick Johnson was a dedicated employee at SUNY Oswego from 1961-1995. During his time at Oswego, Dick operated the SUNY Oswego mailroom, worked extensively with the ticket sales for both the Laker basketball and hockey teams before becoming the lead operator of the score clock in Romney Field House. Dick is an avid Oswego hockey fan, rarely missing a home game and often following the team on the road. He helped create the Blueline Club and became the club’s first president. By organizing the various Blueline Club endeavors, Dick helped elevate the Laker hockey program within the community. Currently Dick is deeply involved in fundraising for the Herb Hammond Fund at SUNY Oswego. His family includes his wife of nearly sixty years Sharon, daughters Kelly and Kristyn, son Richard, daughter-in-law Karen, sons-in-law Wayne and Tyrone, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Pete Sears 10/22/2016 Pete Sears is a men’s ice hockey legend at Oswego State. After one year as a Laker, Sears left to serve in Vietnam as a member of the U.S. Army from 1967-69. Following his return to Oswego, the goaltender was named to the All-American College Hockey Team in 1970 before going on to win a silver medal in the 1972 Olympics with the United States hockey team. Sears continued to stay involved in hockey in the area as a coach and board member for Oswego Minor Hockey as well as the high school for multiple decades. Most recently, Sears served as a volunteer goalies coach for the Lakers.
