Jada Birkel is entering her second season as the assistant coach of the Lakers.

The Austin, TX native received her bachelor’s degree from Abilene Christian University in 2023 where she majored in psychology with a minor in biology, graduating magna cum laude.

Birkel played seven years for Austin Junior Volleyball Club. She then played collegiately at the Division I level starting at the University of Memphis as a middle/ right side hitter for two years. She then transferred to Abilene Christian University for her final two years where she also played beach volleyball.

As a college athlete, Birkel was selected to the American Athletic Conference All-Academic team in 2019-2020, and Academic All-Western Athletic Conference team 2022 & 2023.

She has experience coaching at various high school camps for the past four years as well as at the club level.
