Haley Miller of the Oswego State women’s tennis team has been named Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending October 6, 2013.
In a 2-0 week for the Lakers, Miller was perfect in all four of her matches. Miller won both of her singles tilts before teaming with Kelsey Wilson for two doubles victories.
Against Utica College at home on Wednesday, Oswego defeated the Pioneers 9-0. Miller won her match at fourth singles in easy fashion, 6-2, 6-0. Prior to her singles win, Miller and Wilson competed at second doubles, cruising to an 8-1 victory over their counterparts.
On Saturday, the Lakers made it two-straight wins with a 5-4 advantage over Daemen College at the Romney Tennis Courts. Miller once again took down her opponent at fourth singles, this time 6-1,6-4. At second doubles with Wilson, the teammates took down their foes 8-4.
Miller and Oswego will return to action at 7 p.m. on Tuesday when they host SUNY Cortland indoors at the Romney Field House. It will be the first intercollegiate contest in the newly renovated facility.
