Mike Naab of the Oswego State men’s soccer team has been named Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending October 13, 2013.
In a 0-1-1 week for the Lakers, Naab scored Oswego’s only goal on the weekend.
After playing 72 minutes of scoreless soccer with Fredonia on Saturday afternoon, Naab found the back of the net at 72:40 to give the Lakers a late advantage. The goal was Naab’s fourth of the season which is good for the team lead. He is also in a five-way tie for the team-high in assists.
The lead did not hold for long, however, as Fredonia knotted the game just under seven minutes later. Neither team could break the stalemate through double overtime, allowing the game to end in a tie.
Naab and Oswego will return to action at 3 p.m. on Friday when they welcome The College at Brockport for a conference matchup. The Friday and Saturday contests will be a Breast Cancer Awareness weekend, as Oswego will wear its pink attire.
