Oswego, N.Y. -- Keith Tyson of the men's basketball team has been named the Oswego State Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending January 26, 2014. 

In a 1-0 week for the Lakers, Tyson was a crucial player in the 64-52 victory at New Paltz on Tuesday night. The win avenged a loss to the Hawks earlier in the season at home. 

Tyson had a team-high 19 points along with a team-high five blocks in the contest.  Both his point and block total set new career-highs for the freshman while shooting 8-for-12 from the field (66.7%). Tyson also collected three rebounds on the night and stole two possessions from the home team to fill the stat sheet.

On the season, the Syracuse native is averaging 5.1 points per game and 2.1 boards in just over 13 minutes of floor time per contest. He is also shooting over 50% on the year (52.1%).

Oswego will be back in action at 8 p.m. on Tuesday when it travels to Geneseo for a SUNYAC competition.
