Oswego, N.Y. – Lindsey Eggers of the women’s lacrosse team and David Titanic of the men’s ice hockey team are the Oswego State Athletes of the Week for the week ending March 16, 2014.
Eggers, a sophomore, had a goal and an assist in a hard-fought 5-4 victory over Springfield College on Sunday. She also caused three turnovers and collected three ground balls on the afternoon to lead the team.
The women’s lacrosse team currently has a 4-1 record on the season, its best start since the 2005 squad opened with the same mark.
Senior captain David Titanic played a pivotal role in the come-from-behind 4-3 victory over Bowdoin College in the opening round of the NCAA Championship. Down 3-1 early in the third period, he scored Oswego’s second goal to get momentum back for the Lakers.
Later in period he would get the lone assist on the game-winning goal to send Oswego on to national quarterfinals. In the quarterfinals game, the Lakers would prevail 3-0 over Babson College to make their fifth-straight trip to the Frozen Four.
?Titanic will now lead Oswego into a semifinals contest at 7:30 p.m. on Friday against University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee in Lewiston, Me.
