Oswego, N.Y. – Matt McDorman of the men’s track and field team has been named the Oswego State Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 20, 2014.
 
The junior had quite the impressive weekend at the Cortland Classic in the javelin throw. McDorman threw a lifetime best on Friday afternoon of 49.93 meters; which beats his old best by over 18 feet. He finished third overall in the event, and was the highest non-Division III finisher. This 49.93m throw came within four centimeters of Oswego State’s javelin record.
 
The Wolcott native now currently sits second in SUNYAC standings in the javelin throw after the weekend. He is just 6 short meters away from qualifying for ECAC’s.
 
The men’s track and field team will travel to Rochester over the weekend for its next invitational. The University of Rochester Spring Invitational will begin at 10a.m. on Saturday.
