Alex McCarthy of the Oswego State Men's tennis team has been nominated as athlete of the week for the week ending on September 14.

In his Oswego State debut, McCarthy won first singles in stragiht sets (6-2, 6-2). The transfer student is the first to win an opening day, first singles match in the past five seasons.

The squad returns to the courts on October 1 for their home-opener against Utica College.
