OSWEGO, N.Y. - Matt Massenzio of the men's soccer team has been named the Oswego State Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending on Sept. 20, 2015.
Massenzio scored one goal and assisted on another in the Lakers lone game at Alfred University.
In the 80th minute of the contest, the senior midfielder sparked his fellow teammates with a penalty kick goal to bring Oswego within two goals of the Saxons.
With two minutes remaining in regulation, Massenzio assisted his teammate Jason Siracuse for the game-tying goal; completing a three-goal comeback in less than 10 minutes.Â
Massenzio is now tied for third on the team in goals and tied for second in assists.
Men's soccer will return to the home-turf at 2 p.m. on Friday for Alumni Weekend. The team will host two SUNYAC-rivals, beginning with Oneonta, which received two top-25 votes last week and concluding with New Paltz.
