OSWEGO, N.Y. - Emma Moriarty of the volleyball team has been named the Oswego State Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending on Oct. 25, 2015.
Moriarty was key offensive cog in the Lakers offensive this weekend as the team went a perfect 3-0 in SUNYAC Pool play and clinched the three seed in the SUNYAC Championship.
In Friday's victory over Fredonia, Moriarty had her best outting, setting a career-high in kills with 16. The Port Jefferson Station, N.Y. native continued to flourish in the comeback win against Geneseo, this time defensively as she put up two blocks and recorded eight digs. Moriarty finished the week with 33 kills, 18 digs and four total blocks.
This season, the junior has racked up 195 total kills, the third most on the squad.
Volleyball returns to the court at 6 p.m. on Friday as the team celebrates Senior Day by hosting Alfred University at Max Ziel Gymnasium.
