OSWEGO, N.Y. -- Walter Sampson of the men’s basketball team has been named the Oswego State Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending November 29, 2015.
Sampson is coming off a career weekend where he led Oswego to victory at the Rochester Tournament, defeating Middlebury (70-55) and the host school, the University of Rochester (55-54). With his performance, he garnered the Most Valuable Player award.
With a 73-58 victory over Clarkson on Tuesday, the Lakers finished the week 3-0 to improve to 6-0 on the season. During this stretch, the senior guard shot a solid 46% (12-for-26) from the field including an impressive 4-for-8 (50%) from long distance.
Sampson scored 43 points, dished out six assists, hustled down eight rebounds and completed the stat sheet with five steals in the three games.
The Lakers will head to Fredonia at 7:30 p.m. on Friday for the start of a two-game road set with the Blue Devils and the Buffalo State Bengals at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
