OSWEGO, N.Y. -- Daniel Smith of the wrestling team has been named the Oswego State Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending December 6, 2015.
With his performance, Smith led the field of five Lakers who placed in the invitational. The team captured an eighth-place finish overall to wrap up the RIT Invite.
The Adams, N.Y. native finished second in the 197-pound weight class. He battled his way through the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds, recording a 7-0 decision and an 18-2 technical fall, respectively.
Wrestling will return at 12 p.m. on Saturday as they head to Ithaca for a dual meet with the Bombers.
