OSWEGO, N.Y. – Zach Gerber of the men's swimming and diving team has been named the Oswego State Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending on Jan. 31, 2016.
Gerber won two events on Saturday helping the Lakers down the Potsdam Bears 166-107.
To start off his day, the Oswego, N.Y. native collected a first-overall finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 59.63. Later on in the day, the senior gained another first-place finish. In a thrilling turn of events, the senior snatched the top time in the 100-yard freestyle by less than a second.
In the penultimate event, Gerber led off the 200-yard freestyle relay with a split time of 22.96 seconds. Along with the three other seniors, the Lakers finished in first by less than a second.
Oswego will hit the road for its final regular season event of the year, traveling to the Geneseo Invite at 12 p.m. next Saturday.
