OSWEGO, N.Y. – Alexis Acevedo of the women’s track and field team has been named the Oswego State Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 6, 2016.
Acevedo turned out the best performance of her young career on Saturday at the St. Lawrence Fast Chance Invitational, placing in two events and setting an individual record in the process.
In the 60-meter dash the freshman set a new personal best, recording a time of 8.46 seconds. That time was good enough to earn her third place in the event.
Less than a half hour later, Acevedo was able to muster up the energy to leap 4.81 meters (15'9.75") in the long jump, winning first place in the event.
The freshman standout will have to wait until next season to continue on her success, as the event was the last one of the year for the squad.
