OSWEGO, N.Y. – Wes Randall of the baseball team has been named the Oswego State Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 27, 2016.
Randall continued his impressive junior campaign during this weeks Spring Break trip, contributing to the squads 5-0 record. During the five game stretch, Randall hit for a .412 average including a double, triple, and five RBI. The outfielder also drew four walks and stole five bases on his way to scoring a team-high nine runs.
Randall’s biggest contribution of the week came in the 20-3 rout over Fredonia on Monday. He went 2-for-5 from the plate with a walk, driving in three runs and scoring three more. He also provided some speed on the bases, stealing a base to add to his SUNYAC leading 10 stolen bases (T-46th nationally).
With his triple against St. Michaels on Monday, Randall moved into a tie for 19th nationally for triples (3), which also ranks him first in the conference. He also leads the SUNYAC in runs (21), as well as batting average (.452) and ranks 2nd in hits (28) and 10th in RBI (14).
The baseball team, which ranks 19th in the nation, will be back on the field at 4 p.m. on Tuesday when it travels to Ithaca for a non-conference matchup with the Bombers.
