OSWEGO, N.Y. – Ben Griffin of the men’s outdoor track and field team has been named the Oswego State Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 3rd, 2016.
Griffin, fresh off his appearance in the NCAA championships for indoor earlier in the month, led the men’s outdoor team at its first meet of the season. After just two days of post-spring break practice, Griffin picked up two first place finishes at the Geneseo Early Season Invitational on Wednesday.
In the 1500-meter run, the junior placed first out of 44 runners with a time of 4:02.89. Not long after, he followed up his performance with another first place finish, this time in the 800-meter. His time of 1:59.21 topped the field of 20 runners.
The outdoor track and field team will be in Rochester, N.Y. on Saturday when it partakes in the Nazareth Rochester City Invitational, which begins at 10 a.m.
