OSWEGO, N.Y. – Melissa Mulvaney of the softball team has been named the Oswego State Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 3, 2016.
Mulvaney was an integral part of the teams 4-2 record during the week, and led the squad to two conference wins. In the six games, she went 7-for-16 (.438) including three walks, giving her a .526 on base percentage. The junior also hit the first home run of her career, a solo shot, on her way to a nine-RBI week.
In the conference-opening double header against Brockport, Mulvaney put up career numbers. In the first game, she had three hits (including the solo homerun), drove in three runs, and scored two more. In the second matchup she grabbed two more hits and added a walk, picking up a career-high four RBI and scoring two more runs.
The second basemen was a rock on defense as well, adding ten putouts and nine assists to her stat line. Two of her putouts came by the way of leaping grabs against Brockport, one of which led to a double play.
The softball team will be back in action on Wednesday when it hosts Utica for a double header beginning at 3:30 p.m.
