OSWEGO, N.Y. – Alexis Nasca of the softball team has been named the Oswego State Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 24, 2016. Nasca was a force for the Lakers both on the rubber and at the plate during the squads 3-2 week.
In the pitcher’s circle, the senior went 2-0 in her three appearances with an earned run average of 4.97. In nearly thirteen innings pitched she gave up seven runs while allowing an opponent batting average of just .250 and striking out five.
Nasca continued to help the squad at the plate, hitting at a .467 clip (7-for-15). Most of those hits went for extra bases, as the Hamburg, N.Y. native knocked three doubles, a triple, and a homer for fifteen total bases and a slugging percentage of 1.000. Her six RBI tied for the most on the team over the week, and increased her season total to 25 which leads the team.
Nasca is having the best season of her four year career, and currently ranks in the top-ten of the conference in five different statistical categories. She ranks sixth in doubles (8), seventh in homers (3), eighth in RBI (25), eighth in total bases (50), and fourth in slugging percentage (.641).
The softball team is currently sitting in the final conference playoff spot with six games left to play this season. The squad will be in Alfred, N.Y. on Tuesday for a double header beginning at 3 p.m.
