Stephen Johnson of the men’s ice hockey team was named the Oswego State Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending November 6.

In the game against Brockport on Friday, the senior gathered an assist with three seconds left in the game to finish off Oswego's 5-1 win. It helped the Lakers gather their first conference win on the season.

On Saturday, Johnson had a huge game for the Lakers leading them to a 5-3 victory over a nationally-ranked Geneseo team. With eight minutes remaining in regulation and down one goal, the defensemen tallied an assist to tie the game at 3-3. After both sides had chances, the Mississauga, Ontario native made his presence felt again with less than a minute remaining in regulation. Johnson corralled the puck off a rebound and in the scrum fired it past the Geneseo goalie for what proved to be the Lakers game-winning score.

Men’s ice hockey returns to the rink at 7 p.m. on Friday as they travel to Cortland to take on the Red Dragons in another conference battle.
