The entire first line of the Oswego State women's ice hockey team has been named the Female Athletes of the Week for the week ending on Dec. 4, 2016.
Olivia Ellis, Alexa Aramburu and Jacquelin White all turned in impressive showings over the weekend against Canton. The No. 7 Lakers defeated the Kangaroos by a combined 16-1 score with a 10-0 win on Friday and a 6-1 win on Saturday. The front line tallied an improbable eight goals and 12 assists for 20 points.
Ellis started off the weekend by scoring the first goal of the game in the second minute of Oswego’s eventual 10-0 victory and was assisted by Aramburu. She went on to score two more times—while again being assisted by Aramburu—and returned the favor to her teammate with an assist of her own. On Saturday, after she recorded her first-career hat trick on Friday and became the all-time point leader in program history, the junior added another goal and a couple of helpers.
Aside from assisting on two of Ellis’s goals, Aramburu added one more during the first game and a couple on Saturday. The senior also scored three goals over the course of both games, including the first of the game in Oswego’s 6-1 win on Saturday. On the goal, Jacquelin White was credited with the assist, adding to her two from Friday’s contest.
The Royal Oak, Michigan native scored once in the second game of the two-game set and dished out a fourth assist for the weekend, which earned her ECAC West Rookie of the Week honors.
Women’s ice hockey returns to action at 7 p.m. on Friday for a nonconference game versus Hamilton College.
