Tylea McCarthy-Walker of the women’s track and field team was named the Oswego State Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 2.

During Sunday’s Geneseo Early Season Invitational, the freshman set a new school-record in the long jump with a leap of 5.32 meters, which was also good for second place in the event. She broke the record previously set by Kristen Harrigan (5.20 meters) in 2015.

She also competed in the triple jump claiming fourth place with a distance of 10.74 meters.

Women’s track and field will return to action at 10 a.m. on Saturday as the team will travel to Rochester to compete in the Nazareth Rochester City Classic.
