Oswego State Athletics

Bridget Bender of the women’s tennis team was named Oswego State Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sept. 10. Oswego’s first victory of the 2017 season came against Elmira College on Sunday afternoon, aided by Bender. Bender won at both fourth singles and the second doubles slot, notching match scores of 6-2,6-4 and 8-5 respectively, giving the Lakers the 5-4 match win.

Bender’s play with partner Lorrayne Broach has proven strong through the first two matches of the season. Losing close by a pro-set score of 9-7, the duo pushed perennial power Geneseo to the brink, before defeating Elmira nine days later.

Bender and Oswego now look ahead to playing at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Utica College.
