OSWEGO, N.Y. - Emma Allen of the women’s soccer team has been named the Oswego State Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending Oct. 15. Allen was crucial in the net on Saturday for Oswego, posting a 10-save shutout against the Geneseo Knights to knock off the unbeaten 8th-ranked team in the nation.
The 1-0 win marked Allen’s third shutout on the season, in only her 13th game played for the Lakers. With her 10 saves at Geneseo, Allen has made 49 saves this season and is tied for fourth in the SUNYAC. The sophomore came up just four saves shy of her career record of 14 on Saturday afternoon.
On Friday evening at Brockport, Allen turned away three of the Golden Eagles’ four shots on-goal. The Syracuse native played all 90 minutes for the Lakers, only allowing one goal.
Oswego State and Allen play next at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Cortland against a Red Dragons team coming off of a 5-1 victory over Brockport.
