OSWEGO, N.Y. - Kate Randazzo of the women’s ice hockey team has been named the Oswego State Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending on Oct. 29. Randazzo led the Lakers in points this past weekend as the women’s ice hockey team opened the season with two wins.

On Friday evening, the Lakers earned a decisive 5-0 victory over the New England College Pilgrims at home. Randazzo helped Oswego take the early lead, supplying the primary assist on a goal by Katie Mlostek just under six minutes into the contest.

Later in the second period, the sophomore collected a pass from Eryn Stewart before setting up Olivia Ellis on the power play to push the Lakers’ lead to 3-0. Before the end of the night Oswego added two more goals via the power-play, with Randazzo assisting on both.
Randazzo’s four assists in the contest is the most in a single game for the Lakers in over 10 years.

On Saturday afternoon, Oswego and Castleton entered overtime after a 2-2 tie in regulation. A tense overtime period culminated on a rebound that cleared the Castleton defense, which Randazzo was able to settle and rip past the goalie’s right side for the unassisted tally, with only 39 seconds remaining in overtime. Randazzo and Oswego next play at 3 p.m. on Nov. 4 against the Soaring Eagles of Elmira College at home.
