OSWEGO, N.Y. - Jordan Bushey of the wrestling team has been named the Oswego State Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending on Nov 5. Bushey’s undefeated performance over the weekend at the Ithaca College Invitational helped Oswego finish in the top half of participating programs.

Claiming the top spot amongst all 184-pounders, Bushey went 5-0 on both Friday and Saturday accounting for 20 out of Oswego’s 69 total points during the competition. Winning in the semifinal round by a score of 4-1 and in the championship bout 5-3, the sophomore claimed three of his victories by decision, pinning his first round opponent 1:43 into the match and again via the pin in the quarterfinal round at 3:23.

In the 184-pounder first place match, Bushey faced Ithaca College’s Jake Ashcraft, ranked 10th in the nation in their weight class. Ashcraft entered the championship also undefeated during the tournament, a 3-0 record that Bushey would tarnish claiming the top finish in the 184-pound weight class.

Bushey and Oswego wrestle next in the Jonathan Kaloust Bearcat Open in Binghamton, N.Y. at 9 a.m. on Nov 12.
