OSWEGO, N.Y. -  Tylea McCarthy-Walker has been named the Oswego State Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending on Jan 21. The sophomore’s performance this weekend led the way for Oswego at the Hamilton College Continental Invitational.

Claiming a decisive first-place finish in both events she competed in, McCarthy-Walker’s long jump distance of 5.29 meters in the final earned her the top spot of this 22-person event. With a triple jump distance of 10.77 meters, the Marion, N.Y. native took first place of this event by .01, edging out teammate Samantha Jenks’ distance of 10.76 meters.

On Saturday, McCarthy-Walker and Oswego compete next at the Kane Invitational all day held at Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y. in their third competition of the season.
