OSWEGO, N.Y. - David Richer of the men’s ice hockey team has been named the Oswego State Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending on Feb. 4. Allowing only a single goal across both games for the Lakers between Friday and Saturday, Richer helped the Lakers to two conference victories.

Richer rejected 14 consecutive shots on goal Friday evening against Buffalo State. The sophomore’s consistency throughout the game allowed Oswego to cruise to a 4-1 victory.On Saturday evening at Fredonia, Richer would keep his pace turning in a career-best 36 saves in his second shutout victory of the season. Playing all 60 minutes in the win, Richer’s goals against average drops to 1.49, the best in the nation.

The Mirabel, Quebec native looks to add to his spectacular 11-1-2 record as he and the Lakers drop the puck next against Geneseo at 7 p.m. this Saturday at the Marano Campus Center Arena in Oswego, N.Y.
