OSWEGO, N.Y. - Olivia Ellis, Andrea Noss and Julieann White of the women’s ice hockey team have been named the Oswego State Female Athletes of the Week for the week ending on Feb. 25. The Lakers’ first line provided much of the offense on Saturday, clinching a spot in the final round of the NEWHL Championship after turning in a dominant 5-0 shutout on the road against second-seeded Buffalo State.

    Leading 1-0 less than 10 minutes into the game from a Jean-marie Padden goal, Andrea Noss stole the puck from behind the net and dished it to Olivia Ellis who tallied her ninth goal of the season to make it 2-0.

    Just over one minute later Julieann White sprinted the length of the ice to collect the puck, sending it over to Andrea Noss, who slotted it home for the Lakers’ third goal of the evening.

    Next period, Ellis scored her second goal of the contest and team-leading 10th goal of the season off a pair of nice passes from Laura Thacker and Julieann White, raising the score to 4-0. Another goal by Padden would bring the contest to its final score of 5-0.

    Totaling six points combined, Oswego’s first line came through in the clutch during this conference postseason elimination game. The Lakers play next at 3 p.m. Saturday in Plattsburgh, N.Y. in the final round of the NEWHL Championship.
