OSWEGO, N.Y. - Angela Ponto of the women’s lacrosse team has been named the Oswego State Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending on March 25. Turning in a stellar performance in net, Ponto’s consistency allowed the Lakers to cruise to victory in a 19-7 win over Utica College.
    
    With Utica opening the scoring just over six minutes into the contest, Oswego’s offense provided the next 15 goals before Utica tallied their second just under eight minutes into the second half. The West Genesee, N.Y. native’s 12 saves throughout the game helped Oswego grab a decisive lead. Ponto played 52 minutes in net for the Lakers.
    
    With the victory, the senior improves her individual record to 4-2 on the season while also lowering her goals against average to 8.12 per game. Ponto leads the SUNYAC in save percentage with .511.
    
    The Lakers and Ponto play next at 12 p.m. on Saturday, against the Golden Eagles of Brockport in Oswego, N.Y.
