OSWEGO, N.Y. -  Rebecca Vilchez of the softball team has been named the Oswego State Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending on April 22. Starting both games of each doubleheader earned the sophomore her second Athlete of the Week award within a month as she led the Lakers to a 3-1 record over the weekend.

    During game one against Geneseo on Saturday, Vilchez took a one-hit shutout into the final inning where Oswego eventually won 2-1 in walkoff fashion thanks to a clutch hit by teammate Madelana Wrubel. Following this trend, the Franklin Square, N.Y. native only allowed one hit in game two as well, pitching for the Lakers as they split the doubleheader against Geneseo, who holds the top record in the SUNYAC.

    Facing the Golden Eagles of Brockport on Sunday, Vilchez tossed five innings only allowing a single earned run while adding a solo home run of her own in the fifth inning to round out her 2-4 day at the plate in game one. Earning her 10th victory of the year in game two, Vilchez tossed six innings for the Lakers and connected on a double to left center to drive in two insurance runs to give Oswego a 6-3 lead. The Lakers ultimately won the game, 6-5.

                                            Oswego and the sophomore play next against the Blue Devils of Fredonia State at 3 p.m. on Friday in Fredonia, N.Y.
