OSWEGO, N.Y. -- Ryan Young – of the men’s soccer team – has been named Oswego State Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sept. 9. The freshman scored two goals in the Lakers pair of victories over the weekend at the Utica College Tournament.

Young’s first goal came in a 3-1 victory over SUNY Cobleskill on Friday, when Young scored just less than 12 minutes into the contest off an assist from Iviko Gejadze. On Saturday, he would score the lone game-winning goal in minute 72 to give the Lakers a 1-0 victory over the host Pioneers.

The Lakers were named the Utica College Tournament champions as Young took home All-Tournament and Tournament MVP honors.

For the freshman, the goals were the first of his young collegiate career. He and the Lakers look to continue their winning streak with a 1 p.m. matchup at RIT on Saturday.
