OSWEGO, N.Y. – Haru Kobayashi - of the women’s tennis team - has been named Oswego State Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sept. 30.
Kobayashi went 3-1 over the weekend, including 2-0 in the Lakers 6-3 win over Brockport on Saturday. During Oswego’s loss to Fredonia on Friday, the senior and partner Erin Vargo won third doubles with a 7-5 tiebreaker for an 8-7 decision. The tandem returned the next day in third doubles and dominated Brockport in an 8-1 win.
The Tokyo, Japan, native defeated Brockport’s Zoe Sharp 6-3, 6-4 in third singles on Saturday for her third victory of the weekend.
Kobayashi and the Lakers return to Romney Tennis Courts 3 p.m. on Tuesday for a SUNYAC match against Cortland.
