Shawn Merlin also earned All-American honors in two events in the diving portion of the NCAA Championships in Minneapolis. Merlin finished fifth in the men’s three-meter springboard with a score of 479.80 points. He qualified for the finals as the seventh seed after tallying 463.40 points in the preliminary and semifinal rounds. The sophomore diver finished seventh in the one-meter springboard, compiling 435.15 points in the final round. He qualified for the finals after totaling 456.60 points in the preliminary round of dives in that event.

Merlin, a graphics design major, is the son of Mary Merlin of Palmyra.
