OSWEGO, N.Y. - Riley Synan - of the women's swimming and diving team - was named Oswego State Female Athlete of the Week for the Week ending Feb. 24.
The Belchertown, Mass. native finished third in the 200-yard fly with a time of 2:07.88 at the SUNYAC Championships, earning third team all-conference for her performance.
The senior broke Oswego great Anne Sarkissian's 16 year-old school record in the event. Sarkissian holds the conference meet record in the 100-yard fly, a mark that has also stood for 16 years.
Synan also narrowly missed out on all-conference honors in the 200, 400, and 800-yard freestyle relays, finishing in fourth for each event. Her efforts were able to propel the Lakers to a third place finish at the championships, improving three places from last years finish.
