OSWEGO, N.Y. – Tyler Pierre – of the men’s basketball team – was named Oswego State Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending Mar. 3.
Pierre’s 11th and 12th double-doubles of the season helped propel the Lakers to victories in the first and second round of the NCAA Championship this past weekend.
In Friday night’s opening round contest against Salem State, the Deer Park, N.Y. native shot 7-10 from the field, as well as 5-6 from the free throw line, good for 19 points. He also collected a game-high 11 rebounds.
The senior notched 14 points against Baldwin Wallace in Oswego’s 75-71 overtime win on Saturday, while grabbing 16 rebounds. 10 of these rebounds came in the second half and overtime.
Pierre and the Lakers take on No. 22 Marietta College at Augustana College on Friday in the Sweet 16, with the time to be determined.
