For the fourth time this season, women’s ice hockey goalie Emi Williams has been named the Oswego State female student-athlete of the week. Williams had 43 saves for the Lakers, who were making their first ever postseason appearance in their third year as a varsity program. The Lakers dropped a 6-1 decision to two-time defending national champion Plattsburgh in the first round of the ECAC Women’s West playoffs on Saturday, Feb. 28.  Plattsburgh outshot Oswego State 49-10 for the game, including an 18-1 margin in the decisive third period.

“Emi kept us in the game in the first period, stopping 19 of 20 shots which allowed our inexperienced team to get their feet under them. The score does not reflect the performance that she turned in,” commented Laker coach Diane Dillon.

Williams, a communications major, is the daughter of Chet and Diana Williams of Anchorage, AK.
