Oswego, N.Y. - Junior Aidan Mathews - of the wrestling team - has been named the Oswego State Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending November 24.

Mathews won the 197-pound weight class at the 51st annual New York State Collegiate Championships to help the Lakers to a sixth-place finish.  Mathews won a pair of bouts by fall, the first at 2:58 and the second at 4:16, to advance to the final where he won by a 5-2 decision over the top-seeded wrestler.

Mathews was one of seven Lakers to earn All-State honors on Sunday.

Mathews and the wrestling team return to action at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 7 as they travel to Rochester for 54th annual RIT Invitational.
