Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Field Hockey Wraps Season with a Loss

OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State field hockey team ended its season with a hard-fought 2-1 loss to Geneseo on Saturday afternoon at the South Athletic Field. With the defeat, the Lakers finish the year with a 6-9 overall mark and a 1-5 record in SUNYAC action while Geneseo improves to 7-9, 3-3.

Before the game began, Oswego honored its graduating teammates Cassie Langone and Courtney Collins with Senior Day.

The Lakers created many opportunities but could not find the back of the net until the final five minutes of regulation. Despite outshooting the Knights 22-17 on the day and 12-9 in shots-on-goal, Oswego's lone goal came at 65:59 when Lisa O'Callaghan gathered a rebound off a Rachel Johnston shot and fired it past the goalie.

Freshman Sarita Charap, the nation's 10th-ranked goaltender in save percentage (.838), made six saves in the season's final game.

Julia Calandra aided Charap in the contest, making one defensive save to keep the Knights off the board for a third time.

O'Callaghan led the team with eight shots, five of which were on goal. Abigial Leahy chipped in with four shots, all on-goal.
