Field Hockey Loses to Elmira at Home

OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State field hockey team dropped a nonconference tilt 3-0 to Elmira on Saturday afternoon at Laker Turf Stadium. With the loss, the Lakers fall to 2-7 on the year while the Soaring Eagles improve to 4-6.

Oswego's defense finished with four saves on the day, three coming from field players. Sophomore's Monica Harvey and Emily Brockwell teamed up for the total, with Harvey stopping one and Brockwell nixing two on the same play. Senior Grace Lombardi, the Lakers' starting goalie, made the other save for Oswego.

Two of Elmira's goal came on penalty strokes, one in each period. The other Soaring Eagles' tally was its first of the day, coming directly off a penalty corner pass just over 10 minutes into the contest.

As a team, Oswego did own a hefty advantage in penalty corners, taking seven more than its opponent (11-4).

The Lakers will now have nine days to prepare for their next outing, as they go to conference-foe Morrisville to face the Mustangs at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 13.
