Playoffs and Openers on Halloweekend Slate

OSWEGO, N.Y. – Postseasons begin for the women's soccer team and both cross country teams as they hit the road to begin their SUNYAC Championship runs. Five other teams will also see action this weekend, including home-openers for both the men's and women's ice hockey teams.

After securing the No. 6 seed with a 2-1 victory over Cortland on last Saturday, women's soccer begins its postseason play squaring off against the third-seeded Geneseo Knights. The contest takes place at 2 p.m. on Saturday as the Lakers will play at Geneseo's College Stadium.

Both cross country teams will head north to Plattsburgh as the Cardinals are hosting the 2015 SUNYAC Championships. The women will begin their 6K race at 11 a.m. with the men following with their 8K at 12 p.m.

The Oswego State volleyball team has an action-packed weekend that begins with the squad's final home match at 6 p.m. on Friday. The Lakers will be honoring their five seniors for Senior Day as they host non-conference foe Alfred University at Max Ziel Gymnasium. The following day, Oswego will travel to Utica, N.Y. for the SUNY Poly Triangular. The day starts with a 2 p.m. match against New Rochelle College, with a second match commencing at 4 p.m. against the host Wildcats.

Men's ice hockey will kick off the weekend with a road-conference bout against Geneseo starting at 7 p.m. on Friday. The team will then turn around to host Brockport in its home-opener at the Marano Campus Center Arena, dropping the puck at 7 p.m. on Saturday. Oswego finished second in the SUNYAC last season, posting a 12-2-2 record.

Women's ice hockey opens up its season this weekend as well as it is scheduled for two home games beginning with a 7 p.m. tilt against New England College on Friday. The following day, Oswego will take on the Spartans of Castleton University at 3 p.m.

The men's and women's swimming and diving squads return to the pool this weekend as they travel to Aurora, N.Y. to take on the Wells College Express at 1 p.m. on Friday. Results for that will be posted to osweglakers.com at the conclusion of the competition.
