Lakers Drop DH to Oneonta on Senior Day

OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State softball team dropped both games of a doubleheader to visiting Oneonta during Senior Day on Sunday afternoon at Laker Softball Field. With the pair of losses, the Lakers are now 3-17 on the year and 1-13 in SUNYAC play while the Red Dragons are 21-9, 10-4.

GAME ONE – Oneonta 12, Oswego 0 (5 INN):

Oneonta scored two or more runs in each of the first four innings to pull away from Oswego. Freshman Melanie Klauser and sophomore Ashley Lyman each had one hit for the Lakers. Katie Heselden started for Oswego and took the loss, throwing one inning and allowing five earned runs. Lisa O'Callaghan and Alexandria Connelly combined to finish the final four innings, giving up just two earned runs apiece.

GAME TWO – Oneonta 6, Oswego 1:

Trailing by four in the third, Tori Trovato smashed a double over the left fielder's head, allowing Alexis Nasca to drive her in moments later with a single to right field. Oswego worked for four more hits during the contest but was unable to generate a run, eventually falling 6-1.

Along with Trovato and Nasca, Lyman, O'Callaghan, Dana Taglioni and senior Justine Abramowski all registered one hit.

Despite taking the loss, O'Callaghan threw a solid complete game, scattering nine hits over seven innings and only surrendering four earned runs. The junior is now 3-8 on the season.

Oswego will return to action at 3:30 p.m. on Monday when it hosts a nonconference doubleheader with Hamilton College.
