UTICA, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's cross country team opened the year with a solid second-place showing at the 11th Annual SUNY Poly Short Course Invitational on Saturday morning. Oswego totaled 38 points, just 15 back of the top score by Oneonta and 46 points less than the third place finishing Utica College Pioneers.
Individually,
Dylan McCarthy mimicked his team's finish with a runner-up showing as well. The junior clocked a 19:39, six-seconds behind medalist David Akerley of the Red Dragons.
Colin Greenseich was close on his teammate's heels, coming in with a third place finish just two seconds later. Rounding out the Lakers with top 10 finishes was Nicholas LeClair, crossing the line in 19:53 to claim 10th place.
Also scoring for Oswego were junior Timothy Olmsted in 11th place (20:08) and sophomore Andrew Boyce in the next slot with a time of 20:15.
The Lakers will return to the course on Saturday when they travel to Clinton, N.Y. for the Hamilton College Invitational.
