ONEONTA, N.Y. — The Oswego State wrestling team defeated Oneonta, 23-17, on Thursday evening in its second to last dual of the season. With the win, Oswego improves to an even 5-5 in dual matches, while Oneonta moves to 11-5. 

Oswego started the night off right when Hunter Howland scored a technical fall (18-3) over his Oneonta opponent in the opening dual to give the Lakers a 5-0 lead. 

After Oneonta grabbed a 7-5 advantage, Rocco Russo put the Lakers back on top. The junior's pin of his opponent at the 6:33 mark gave Oswego an 11-7 lead, which it would not surrender for the rest of the match. 

Oswego added on more points in its back-to-back-to-back wins over the Red Dragons. First, at 165, Alex Herringshaw scored a 6-3 decision. Next, Troy Seymour followed up with a 17-2 technical fall to rack up five points for the Lakers. Oswego's final win of the night came when Trevor Hoffmier scored an 8-0 major decision over his opponent.

The Lakers face a quick turnaround, as they return to action at 11 a.m. on Saturday when they host Cortland for their last dual match of the season.
