Field Hockey Shut Out by Knights by a Score of 3-0

GENESEO, N.Y.  –  The Oswego State Field Hockey team was defeated by the Geneseo Knights this afternoon. The Knights have not lost a game since September 11th, bringing their win streak to 11.

Final Score: Oswego State 0 (7-8, 0-5 SUNYAC), Geneseo 3 (13-2, 5-0 SUNYAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The first quarter was quiet for the first 10 minutes of play.

  • Geneseo would get on the board first with a goal scored with 4:34 remaining in the quarter. 

  • Kate McNally would have a shot saved by Geneseo's goalkeeper.

  • Geneseo would add 2 more goals in the second quarter, without allowing a single shot against.

  • Geneseo had the shot advantage in the first half of play, with a 7-1 margin.

  • Erica Scheblein would record 2 saves in the half. 

  • Geneseo would keep the pressure on going into the third quarter of play, but Scheblein remained a brick wall against the Knights, giving up 0 goals in the second half. 

  • The Knights would have 4 shots in the first 6 minutes of the quarter.

  • Scheblein would record 3 more saves, and Kaitlyn Mastracco would have a defensive save.

  • Geneseo continued to control the game, allowing Oswego to record 0 shots in the third. 

  • Scheblein finished with 5 total saves in the third quarter of play.

  • Oswego would get their first shot of the second half off in the fourth quarter. Kaitlyn Ahle would have her shot blocked by Geneseo's defense.

WHAT'S NEXT

The women will host Morrisville State College at Laker Turf Stadium on Wednesday, October 26th at 4pm. The Lakers will look to bounce back and finish off their regular season with a win against the Mustangs, who are 1-4 on the road.
