HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1 – Franklin & Marshall
  • Coming off a late game the night before at the furthest site possible, the Oswego offense had trouble getting into gear during the 10 a.m. contest.
  • Freshman Maria Lutz (0-1) was throwing strikes for the Lakers, but the Diplomats used five hits in the opening inning to build a 3-0 lead.
  • Franklin & Marshall added a run in the second and two in the third for the 6-0 lead.
  • They broke the game open with seven runs in the bottom of the fourth.
  • Oswego loaded the bases with no outs in the top of the fifth behind a walk from freshman Kylie Detz and singles from juniors Samantha Morgan and Chelsea Sellars.
  • An Aleah Yaizzo sacrifice fly was sandwiched between a strikeout and groundout for Oswego's lone run.
Game 2 – Babson
  • In the top of the first inning, Babson loaded the bases with one out on a bunt single and a pair of walks.
  • Higgins rallied to strike out the final duo to end the threat and then struck out the side in the top of the second.
  • Oswego loaded the bases with two outs in the bottom of the second on a walk from Taylor DuBois, a single from Brianna LoMonaco and an error by the second baseman that put Morgan aboard.
  • Babson was able to induce a groundout to second to escape the inning.
  • Only one batter reached over the next two innings before Babson put two on base in the fifth.
  • A tough fly ball that went off a Laker glove down the right field line plated the game's first two runs and Babson added a third run on a wild pitch before Higgins struck out the final out of the inning.
  • The Lakers put runners on base in the fifth and sixth innings with singles from Yaizzo and Higgins, but Babson was able to pitch themselves out of danger each time.
  • Higgins ended 2-for-3 from the plate to go along with her strong outing on the mound.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Lakers return to Leesburg on Monday to battle Utica University at 10 a.m. and then Loras College at 12:15 p.m. on the Sleepy Hollow Fields.
