OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State Softball team hosted the Red Dragons of SUNY Cortland for a conference double header on Saturday afternoon.

Game 2: Oswego 1 (7-21, 2-12 SUNYAC) Cortland 3 (21-7, 11-3 SUNYAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1:
The Lakers fell behind early to Cortland allowing six runs on five hits and three errors in the first inning.
The Lakers got on the board in the second inning when
Lily Fanea started things off with a single to right field.
Jenna Mills singled next putting two on with no outs.
Lillian Haggerty would ground out later in the inning but
Lily Fanea advanced home for the first Laker run of the game.
In the third,
Mackenzie Carlson and
Kira Wright hit back-to-back singles to get the offense going for the Lakers.
Lily Fanea singled once again, scoring Carlson.
Kira Wright swiped home for the third run of the game on a double steal. The Red Dragons scored in the first four innings helping them secure the game one win, 12-3.
Chelsea Sellars pitched a complete game one for the Lakers.
Game 2:
Fiona Higgins started game two for the Lakers and kept the Cortland offense in check for most of the game. Higgins struck out nine batters and allowed 3 runs (1 earned) in seven complete innings.
Higgins helped her own cause in the bottom of the first when a sac-fly to center field scored
Kira Wright for the first Laker run of the game.
For the remainder of the game the Lakers only put together three hits that were not enough to score another run.
It wasn't until the 5
th and 6
th inning that Cortland scored and came away with the game two victory, 3-1.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Lakers return home next Friday to host the Plattsburgh Cardinals in another SUNYAC double header starting at 3:00 PM.
