Buffalo N.Y. – The Oswego State Men's and Women's Cross-Country teams were back in action this weekend at the Canisius Alumni Classic in Buffalo, NY.

The women's squad was once again anchored by its dynamic front-running duo.
Elena Gaffney paced the Lakers with a time of 18:22.0, narrowly edging teammate
Hannah Reichard, who finished just behind 18:23.4. Gaffney's time is good enough for second all-time in the Oswego record books with Reichard right behind her at third all time after today.
Junior
Kyra Pellegrino continued her strong season as Oswego's third finisher, crossing 18:36.4, giving the Lakers three runners under 19 minutes. Pellegrino now sits at #7 all-time for the Lakers.
Rounding out the scoring five were
Angelina Buttigieg at 22:40.2 (personal best) and
Grace Stevens in 24:00.5 (personal best), while veterans and newcomers alike gained valuable race experience.
Julia Weaver (24:31.6),
Julay Mustafa (25:25.5),
Korey Lesko (26:29.4),
Alannah Edwards (26:51.1), and
Emily Bologna (32:45.1) all contributed to the Lakers' depth.
On the men's side,
Noah Melita led the Lakers in the 8K with a time of 29:18.4, setting the tone for Oswego's efforts. Senior Jeffrey Simmons followed in 30:00.8, with TJ Bowes closing behind at 30:09.7 to round out a tightly packed top three for the Lakers
Aidan Hafer clocked 30:30.5 to secure the fourth scoring spot, while sophomore
Elijah LaNigra finished in 31:16.9 to complete Oswego's top five.
Also competing for the Lakers were JT Goss (32:25.4),
Miles Thompson (33:40.6),
Joseph Gleason (33:56.2), and
Evan Young (34:54.6), who all gained valuable course experience in a competitive field.
What's Next:
The Lakers will now prepare for the SUNYAC Championships next weekend in Plattsburgh NY.
