The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee at SUNY Oswego plays a vital part in campus life, whether engaged in sporting events, classroom learning or extracurricular activities. The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) provides a student voice on athletic matters, builds bonds between participants in different sports, and engages in worthy community activities.

Mission Statement: The SUNY Oswego Student-Athlete Advisory Committee provides a voice for student-athletes within the SUNY Oswego community, represents the interests of the student-athletes to the administration, undertakes projects that benefit all members of the community, and fosters a positive student-athlete image.

Along with SAAC, SUNY Oswego Intercollegiate Athletics is launching two other student-athlete affinity groups on campus: Student-Athlete Wellness Advocates, and Athlete Ally. Their mission statements can be found below:

Wellness Advocates promote the overall health and wellness of student-athletes and address related concerns. The focus areas for this group remain flexible each year not only for members to get the most of their experience but also to reflect on the evolving needs of a current student-athlete.

Our mission is to end homophobia and transphobia in sports and to empower the SUNY Oswego Student Athletes to exercise their power to champion LGBTQ+ equality and inclusivity through being an Ally. Athlete Ally is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to advocacy for LGBTQ+ athletes.

Applications to join the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee are being accepted until July 18th.
